Well once they start calving they all seem to come at once. Echo the Beat calved last night a polled black bull calf and the first by Kirup Park Esquire. He has the potential to be homozygous polled and has a nice rounded head, so time will tell.
Thank goodness for our calving shed which we used once again, it seems pointless to leave animals out in the rain and cold when the shed is there.
He will be named Guiness, photos will be on our calf page in a day or two.
Wonder who is next??

Well Flame and Elvis have mated this week, so with a bit of luck we will have a litter of puppies late September. They should all be red and white as that is a recessive gene for colour. If you are interested in a pup please contact us so that we can put your name down.
I will post some pictures as the pregnancy becomes obvious
Well Eclair's calf is an absolute ripper. I have decided to name him Rawlings General, let's hope he continues to grow to his potential as he will make a stunning bull if he does. Time will tell!!

Rawlings General just two days old
Well calving has started, with Eclair calving right on her date. She started in the afternoon yesterday and around 3 o'clock the temperature was dropping rapidly and we made the decision to move her to the cow shed where we have a large calving pen for just this scenario. A fairly large bull calf was born about 4.15pm with a bit of help from Mark, although he thinks she would have got it out herself, but if you can help them and make it a bit easier then that is what we do.
The calf is polled and red and when we moved them this morning back to the paddock looks to have great promise. He reminds me very much of Zeppelin who is his grandsire, but has the added benefit of being polled. I will think of a suitable name for him in the next few days, along with getting some photos.
Now we wait for the next one to arrive and who that will be is anyone's guess as they are all due in a big rush over the first week of August.
