We are all set for our Open Farm as part of the National Trust Heritage Festival.  There has been a large amount of enquiry after the Dexter Promotion Group of Tasmania's participation at Agfest, all we need to do now is hope for nice weather.

I am pleased that we are all cleaned up and ready, Mark has worked hard this week, doing some maintenance on the yard rails to make them more secure and taking heaps of bits and pieces left lying around to the rubbish tip or finding homes for them.

The cows will be close to the laneway for viewing in the paddocks.  We will also tie up some animals for grooming and patting.  It will be great education for our young heifers to meet people.

I will let you know how we go after the event.

We have been able to go and see the puppies which have resulted from a mating of Elvis our red & white boy and a black & white female in Ulverstone.  They are three weeks old today and gorgeous, 3 males and 4 females.  If you are interested in a beautifully marked male puppy there is only one left, please contact me by phone or email.

I hope when we mate Flame and Elvis later in the year we get such nicely marked and great natured puppies.  They will be all red & white of course, and I have orders for four already.

Well yesterday we loaded Rawlings Coppertop, our scurred red boy who has given us such nice calves, and the two heifers Faerie Dust and Felicia Belle onto a semi with Pages Transport for their trip across the ditch.  Once again Pages Transport arrived on time, keep us informed at every point and do a great professsional job of transporting our stud stock.

They walked onto the top deck on their halters like they had done it all before, well Coppertop had at least.  And they were on their way.  Thankfully it was a sunny day and calm weather for their crossing.

It is always sad to see your animals leave, but I know they will be well looked after by Matt & Rose from Darlingrange Dexter Stud in Ballmattum Victoria.  I hope they get nice calves and keep us posted on how they are going, I am sure they will.
